魔女について
今の私たちが「魔女」と聞いて想像するのは、真っ黒な服を着て箒で空を飛んだり大きな鍋で怪しげな薬を作っている年老いた女の人でしょう。
しかし、この「魔女」と呼ばれる言葉や考え方は時代や宗教によって様々な定義があるので、現代では一つに絞ることは非常に難しくなっています。
なので、ここでは沢山ある「魔女」の考え方の中で共通している点を紹介して行きたいと思います。
まず最初に「魔女」とは、一般的に悪魔や黒魔術と呼ばれる人に害を与える魔法を使ったり、子供達が読む物語の中では主人公を苦しめる悪者だったり何かとマイナスの部分が強調されています。
ですが、それはヨーロッパにキリスト教が広まった際に人々が知らない知識や聞いた事のない薬草を使う人は「悪魔」の様に人に害を与える存在の手下になっていると思われたせいなのです。
しかし、本当はキリスト教が広まる前から先人達の知恵を応用していたり、親から子に受け継がれてきた薬を作っていたに過ぎないのです。
日本でも困った際に「お婆ちゃんの知恵袋」や「亀の甲より年の功」という言葉があるように、年配者は時に現代の科学で解明される事を年月の中で直感的に分かっていた部分があるのです。
それは仕組みが分からない人に手品が「本当の魔法」に見える様に、女性達が見せる不思議な現象を人々が「悪魔の力」だと勘違いしたのです。
その勘違いが恐怖心に変わって「魔女狩り」と呼ばれる恐ろしい裁判が行われた事もありますが、今では科学の進歩や神秘的な出来事を無闇に差別する事もなったので「魔女」は私達にとって仮装の定番になるほど親しみやすい存在になりました。

As there are also sayings, such as "the wisdom of grandma" or "sense comes with age" in Japan, elderly people sometimes knew intuitively the fact that has been elucidated in modern science.
As the magic trick looks a real witchcraft for those who do not know the mechanism, people misunderstood that a strange phenomenon which women show was the power of the devil.
Its misunderstanding turned into the fear and a terrible trial called a witch-hunt used to be executed. But now the witch became the standard costume and the friendly character for us as science has progressed and mysterious facts have not been discriminated recklessly.
